As I begin 2010 I want to announce an up coming LOCAL ART SHOW. Feb 26th New Discoveries and The Nesting Shops will be hosting an exhibit of local works in all mediums titled “Winter in our Neighborhood”. This show will run until March 13th. Please visit us to view the first of many NEW NESTING SHOPS’ SHOWINGS for 2010.
I am currently framing an impressive 42X15 photo of the Madison shoreline, a colorful needlework sampler, two student projects ”52 things I love about you” card sets, a set of 4 reproduction silk wall hangings, a beautiful pen and ink home portrait, 2 lovely calendar pages, a senior portrait, a wildlife limited edition print. I replace broken glass and repaired the broken frame on a Terry Redlin print and replaced an out-dated frame for a rare signed and numbered Norman Rockwell print.

The Summer has come and gone. Now with Thanksgiving around the corner I am framing many projects for the home. I just finished a custom beveled mirror and frame for over a fire place. It measured an impressive 22 x 60 inches. I have been helping a photographer with his UW Wisconsin Badger Football photos. I am finishing a once in a life time photo of a Thunderbird Car club’s outing. I just completed a shadow box from a law student’s first published work. This project included the published document, family photographs and a wonder handwritten note. I also assisted with a 50th anniversary signature mat. This is a wonderful alternative to a guest register for your special event. One of the best parts of my profession is preserving memories.

Lately I have been busy framing music posters for a local business. I also framed pressed flowers, needlework, a family reunion photograph, and a lovely pastel by a local art teacher. I am building a shadow box for a world record holder which includes a beautiful sword and of course a gold metal! I will be framing a photo of Pearl Harbor. I will be finishing up a few wildlife prints from a ducks unlimited banquet auction. Next week I will make a trip into Madison to pick up a corporate order.

You just never know what wonderful things people will bring in to have preserved in a custom frame.
This week I framed an original photo and an original oil painting by two local artists. I framed a needlework sampler and a Farmers’ Market poster. I also framed a Washington D.C. class trip photo and a third graders student art creation. I framed a sheet of postage stamps and a family portrait. I am working on a magazine article and a Brewers memorabilia pennant.
Let’s see what next week brings.
